At SKS, we believe distinguished students deserve recognition. Our outstanding students may qualify for membership to one or both national honorary societies:

Cum Laude Society:

From its founding more than a century ago, the Cum Laude Society is modeled on the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society, which honors outstanding university students for their learning and scholarship. The Storm King School has the distinction of forming one of the first Cum Laude chapters in the nation. We have been selecting and enrolling members since 1921. SKS students who have demonstrated academic excellence at the School are eligible.

National Honor Society:

The Storm King School's chapter of the National Honor Society was formed in 1981. Qualified juniors and seniors who have compiled an outstanding record in several aspects of school life are elected to the society. Criteria for NHS membership include scholarship, service, leadership and character. Each NHS member must maintain a 90 average GPA and contribute positively to the school and to the community through volunteer work, leadership opportunities and an exemplary attitude.

"I worked really well with Mr. Green, who runs The Mountain Center. That’s what I liked about Storm King: the small community, the friends I made, and teachers like Mr. Andre Green." Michael '08
