SENIOR TIMELINE:The summer before senior year should include college visits, a first draft of the college essay, and some thought devoted to choosing teachers for recommendations. All seniors take on the responsibility of their own application process when they return to school in the fall. See below a timeline and some, but not all, of the dates seniors should be aware of.
September – October

Attend the all-class meetings with the college counselor to review the application process, the Common Application and the use of
www.collegeboard.org.

Schedule ongoing, individual consultations with the counselor to refine college lists and work on applications.

If you are using an outside college advisor, be sure s/he, and you, are working with us.

Work on the college essay with English teachers and advisors.

Plan to use long weekends and holidays to make college visits.

September 15 - October 28: SAT Prep Class Offered Saturdays 8:30am-12:30pm

October 16: SAT and SAT II

October 17: Senior Class Trip

October 19-20: Parent's Weekend (senior parents should schedule a one-on-one conference with the college counselor)

October 27: ACT with writing

November 3: SAT and SAT II

December 4: Final SAT Test Date for Seniors

All applications and college essays to be completed in November.

Schedule college visits during Thanksgiving Break.

Final review of applications with counselor before the trimester ends. Note December 31 and January 1 application deadlines before leaving for winter break.

International students should have all original financial documents in to the college counselor.

March 11-25: March Break (seniors should make a final visit to accepting schools)

Read carefully any admission decisions and review all financial aid award letters; some may require action on your part. Note any housing requirements.

Notify all colleges that accepted you, and that you will not attend, of your decision.

If you're on a waiting list, contact the admission office and let them know of your continued interest in the college; update them on your spring semester grades and activities deposit.

International students check on financial affidavit forms.

May 1: Make your final decision and mail the enrollment form and deposit check to the college you select before the May 1 enrollment deadline (for most colleges).
