Almost 50 years ago I left the beautiful Storm King campus, and like a moth to a flame, I keep coming back for more. More of what you might ask? I think you know the answer. I treasure my four years on the Mountain and my passion for Storm King will never waiver. During those years, like an artist sculpting clay, teachers, coaches and classmates helped mold me into the being I am today.
In its one hundred and forty-three year history, I would suggest with confidence, this is a recurring theme! Thousands of young men and women have passed the Cottage as she stands sentry to an incredibly beautiful campus overlooking the majestic Hudson River Valley. When they leave they leave with more confidence, determination and a great sense of pride. Perhaps you had a similar experience?
One of the responsibilities as newly appointed President of the Alumni Association is to get alumni back for reunion. This year, my 50th was more wonderful than I could have imagined. I shared the weekend with 13 of my classmates. It didn't matter that we hadn't been best of friends as students. We had the knowledge, experience and the common bond of having been on this campus before and we picked up as though we had never been away.
In addition, it is my responsibility to help alumni understand the incredible opportunity of stewardship we have to ensure this small school on the Mountain continues to provide for its students. Any amount of giving is significant. Won't you make the dream come true for a child who has the desire, academic potential and moral compass to share with the rest of the world?
Many generous people made it possible for you and me to find success at Storm King. Won't you consider a gift to pay it forward? Thank you.
Warm regards,
Rich Roberts '60
Alumni Association President
