Pop, jazz, blues, rock and classical—no matter what their individual preferences, students in the SKS Music Arts Program expand their appreciation of musical traditions and influences through practice, study and performance.
The Music Arts curriculum features the fundamentals of music in theory and practice. Melody, harmony, rhythm, and form constitute the time-honored building blocks. Students read music, compose their own songs, explore different instruments, and learn to distinguish among musical periods and styles. Since knowledge of the music business is an important factor in professional success, SKS students also have the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the music industry. Our program includes basic knowledge of the business, from performing and recording to production and music law. The SKS Music Arts Program offers both individual and group instruction. Music Production I: To learn music production from start to finish, students produce and engineer records using Pro Tools, and Midi hardware and software in our LE state-of-the-art recording studio. This course prepares students for Music Production II.
