Geometry Students Study Proportion with a Fun Twist!

Students in Mr. Kevin Wilkins’ Geometry class took their lesson on proportion beyond the textbook and into the Art Building this week. Using the actual dimensions of Storm King’s soccer field and wrestling mat, and the Miami Heat’s basketball court, they worked in groups to create smaller scaled models. This hands-on approach appealed to a different learning style and offered a fun way to study the topic. READ MORE

Athletes Honored at Winter Sports Awards

Storm King athletes had much to celebrate at the Winter Sports Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, March 1st in the Walter Reade, Jr. Theatre. Athletic Director Alan Lewis congratulated the teams on their marked improvement over last year. In fact, all three basketball teams won more games and the wrestling team maintained a similar record competing against tougher teams. Coach Graziosi proudly noted that this was the best season in the history of The Storm King School’s wrestling program. READ MORE


Another Spectacular Performance by Storm King Wrestlers

On Saturday, February 26th, The Storm King School wrestlers competed in the New England Junior Championships at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT. The tournament is specifically for young, inexperienced wrestlers. Storm King sent five first-year wrestlers to the competition with astounding results. Can you hear the applause? The Winter One-Acts at The Storm King School won over the house on February 24-25, when the First Annual Student-Directed Plays hit the stage. Eighth Graders Study Ballads

Students in Ms. Kristen Casey’s Eighth Grade English class are studying different types of prose and poetry (ballads, haiku, etc.), examining poetic language and exploring the elements of personal narratives. This week Ms. Casey assembled the class into two groups and challenged them to find a ballad, write a script based on the ballad, and then act it out. The groups took the challenge and ran with it! One group performed the story behind “The Ballad of John and Yoko” by John Lennon, and the other group performed the story behind “Angie” by the Rolling Stones. They did a great job! READ MORE
