Students in Ms. Anna Stein's Spanish classes, and Ms. Kristen Casey and Ms. Lan Ngo's ESL classes chose a country, their country of origin for many, and prepared colorful poster boards, signature dishes, crafts, music, and more. The Storm King School welcomed a special guest to campus Wednesday afternoon, April 13th. Christine Ohlman, vocalist with the Saturday Night Live Band, met with a small group of students from the Creative Arts Center to talk about her experiences and to entertain questions they had as singers, songwriters, musicians, and actors. Keisuke Ikuma, Principle Oboe Player for the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, stopped by the School for a brief performance with Storm King's Artist in Residence Jim Rensink just before lunch on Wednesday, April 13th. Mr. Rensink played the piano, accompanying Mr. Ikuma on the oboe (he also plays the English horn). It is always a delight when Mr. Rensink treats the SKS community to the musical stylings of his professional acquaintances. READ MORE

Aesthetics are not the only benefit of living adjacent to a 3800-acre nature preserve. SKS is a member of a unique alliance of colleges, schools, and leading scientific institutions that operate Black Rock Forest as a field station for scientific research, education, and conservation. Recently, Biology teacher Jim Uhlig walked with his class to the preserve to gather data for their Environmental Science unit. READ MORE

On Friday, March 25, 2011, The Storm King School hosted Career Night. 15 alums ranging from the Class of 1954 to the Class of 2008 came by the Mountain to speak to our current students about how their time here at SKS prepared them for the road ahead. The day began with an all-school meeting featuring a panel of seven alums. Each of them spoke to the entire student body about their careers and the colorful paths they took to get where they are today. READ MORE
